Marsworth Steam Rally

Hector’s House is a local suicide prevention and mental health charity, founded by the family of Hector Stringer, who took his own life at just 18 years old.

Its mission is to prevent suicide through education, awareness, and support. It does this in a number of ways – from a dedicated listening ear service and signposting to further help, to delivering school talks, attending community events, and creating spaces where people feel able to talk openly.

What truly sets Hector’s House apart is its incredible local community – bolstered by a network of volunteers, partners, and supporters. This summer, there are plenty of opportunities to get involved and be part of that community.

On Sunday 21 June, the charity will be at the Marsworth Steam & Classic Vehicle Rally – a much-loved local day out with everything from full-size and miniature steam engines to vintage vehicles, live music, a fairground, and plenty of food and drink.

Hector’s House has also been chosen as charity partner for Chilfest, taking place on 3-4 July in Tring. Music events hold a special place for the charity team – Hector was a huge music fan a nd part of a band. They also recognise the positive impact music and the arts can have on mental health, making this partnership particularly meaningful.

At both events, you’ll find the Hector’s House green awareness stand – go and say hello!

The charity team will be at other events including Huel Tring Rugby’s awards day (16 May), The Buck pub weekend in Buckland Village (12-14 June), and supporting community fundraisers such as the QCS Snowdon challenge and the Anna Swannell Music Festival in Marsworth (22 August).
