Keep the Green Flags Flying

Dacorum Borough Council has retained its five Green Flag awards for its parks and open spaces. The award is the benchmark national standard for parks and green spaces in the United Kingdom.

Previous winners Canal Fields in Berkhamsted and Tring Memorial Gardens were once again each awarded a Green Flag – the mark of a quality park or green space, along with Bunkers Park, Chipperfield Common and Water Gardens.

The Green Flag Award Scheme is part of the Keep Britain Tidy campaign, and recognises the best green spaces in the country. To earn a Green Flag, the space must be welcoming, clean, and safe and secure, as well as having the support and involvement of the local community.

Cllr Alan Anderson, Portfolio Holder for Environmental Services said: “We know how much quality green spaces matter to residents and visitors, and this award celebrates the dedication that goes into maintaining them to such a high standard.

“Each flag honours the staff and volunteers who work tirelessly to maintain the high standards demanded by the Green Flag Award. I would like to thank the community and volunteer groups, together with council staff, for their hard work and dedication in making this happen.”

A Green Flag flying overhead is a sign to the public that the space boasts the highest possible standards, is beautifully maintained and has excellent facilities.
