Located at a stunning five-acre site near Wendover, Lindengate Mental Health Charity is a safe haven of peace and tranquillity, where nature breathes new life into anyone who is struggling with their wellbeing. The garden lends itself to supporting people in recovery from a range of common mental health needs.

With winter nearly upon us and the nights drawing in, Lindengate can provide the perfect space for you to meet with a friend, or family member for a catch up, sitting in a sheltered spot amongst therapeutic gardens and a wildlife haven.

Drop in to one of the free Rest & Reflect sessions, open on Tuesdays/Fridays/Saturdays between 1-4pm. Why not make a regular date for a catch up, giving yourself something to look forward to in the coming weeks.

During the past 6 months, Lindengate has opened its gates as part of its Rest & Reflect programme, supporting anyone who has been struggling with their mental wellbeing and to date, have welcomed over 1,000 people.

They will be continuing this support over the winter, with plenty of sheltered areas dotted about and space to meet with a friend for a chat, or to bring a book and enjoy the peace, ensuring the therapeutic gardens and wildlife haven are accessible to anyone who needs it.

Finding time to give yourself space can be difficult in the best of weather, but in winter, the challenge becomes even greater. There are many benefits to spending just a few minutes a day outdoors. Here are a few of them:

  • 15 minutes outdoors every day can improve both our moods and our physical health, leading to reduced stress and increased self-esteem
  • Builds our immune system, as the cold weather actually kills off bacteria
  • With the current restrictions in place, we can meet up with a friend, which will improve our mental wellbeing, through physically distanced, social interaction
