Local dog trainer Jamie Pound, who has sites in Chorleywood and Berkhamsted, has been nominated as a finalist by the Animal Star Awards alongside other amazing Dog Trainers and Behaviourists across the UK. Jamie is nominated in two categories: ‘Dog Trainer / Behaviourist of the Year ‘ and ‘Animals Hero’.

Jamie said: ‘It really is special to be given this recognition – even if I don’t win, the whole team is delighted to be nominated and recognised for the work we love doing.’

Jamie became a dog trainer after an accident at work whilst working as an electrician 11 years ago. He was set on fire by an electrical explosion that left him with 45% burns.

Jamie explains: ‘My passion for dogs began throughout my recovery as my dog Frankie helped me get through such a difficult period in my life. Working with dogs has increased my mental health so much and I now feel I owe it to dogs to help them and their owners through various different Behaviour issues.’

Jamie has run his own dog school in Chorleywood with his wife Gemma for seven years. They now also have a dog training school in Berkhamsted.

Jamie is also the founder of UK Sniffer Dogs Ltd which is a company that teaches Dog Trainers and Owners how to train pet dogs for Scent Detection and Tracking.

The awards ceremony will be held virtually on 28 March.
