Local Fundraising for Turkey and Syria Earthquake Victims

Living Magazines Turkey and Syria Earthquake

Following the devastating earthquakes that took place on 6 and 20 February in Southeast Turkey and Syria, local school students Iris and Sofia Sat have been busy baking cakes to sell at their mother’s workplace throughout March.

The local Tesco and Waitrose stores have also kindly contributed cakes and ingredients for the sales, so it’s been a great community effort and the cake sales have raised an incredible £920.

‘The funds raised are being sent directly to the victims of the Earthquakes and we know first-hand,’ said Isobel, the girls mum, ‘how incredibly grateful they are for our donations.’

The girls’ father is from Antakya, one of the worst affected areas. Their grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends are amongst thousands of people who have lost loved ones, their homes, jobs and all their belongings.

They have also set up a Go Fund Me account if you wish to donate, any donation is so gratefully received.

You can do this via this Go Fund Me account or use the Disaster Emergency Committee appeal to which the Government is contributing £5million – monies from both go directly to the victims.
