A Buckinghamshire youth band is currently seeking new volunteers to support its team of instructors.

Chesham All Girls Band have been raising young musicians and performing in the local area for over 39 years.

They are looking for new volunteers to join their team of instructors who teach traditional marches on bugles, fifes, marching bells, and percussion to girls aged between 7 and 20 years old.

The Chesham All Girls Band team are looking for people who have a few hours to volunteer on Tuesday and/or Wednesday night each week (between 7-8.30pm) to help the girls learn to play the instruments alongside learning drill and deportment.

Someone with experience in of teaching music or with experience in a military band would be most suited to the role, however, the committee would be happy to speak to anyone with a keen interest in volunteering with them.

Maria Pearson, Chesham All Girls Band’s volunteer Assistant Band Master, said: ‘The band has made such an impact on so many girls’ lives from the local area over the past four decades which is why we feel it is so important to keep the band running. Our current members are extremely keen to learn and our small team of volunteers are dedicated to helping them to improve and perform to their full potential. By adding to our team it will help to alleviate the pressure on our current volunteers who also have family and work responsibilities alongside their work with us, as well as offer the members the opportunity for learning in smaller groups.’
