Meet Mr Gay England 2022 Heralding from Tring

Living Magazines David Allwood Mr Gay England

Congratulations to David Allwood who recently won the title of Mr Gay England 2022.

David won the title following a number of rounds: Charity Fundraiser (20%), Audience Vote (20%), Written Exam (20%), Mr Congeniality (10%), Beachwear Runway (10%), Regional Runway (10%) and Formal Attire Runway (10%) – winning 5 out of the 7 rounds.

He grew up in Gubblecote near Tring and went first to Long Marston School and then Tring School. David’s family name was actually Buckley but he had to change it with Equity and chose his mum’s maiden name, Allwood. Sadly both of his parents have passed away – they both played for local Tring sports teams – hockey, cricket and tennis.

David has toured the world with musicals, artists and productions and is now a choreographer and does a lot of charity work.

His aim is to do more for the LGBTQIA+ community with his win, and his campaign is focused on combating loneliness within the community. He also wants to assist in the roll-out of gay nursing homes and provide support for people who feel isolated or lonely due to illness, loss or social anxiety. Before year end he also hopes to speak in the House of Commons and be a voice for marginalised members of the community.
