New COVID-19 restrictions

Living Magazines Covid-19 Booster

The Government announced new restrictions this week after the discovery of a new variant of COVD-19, named Omicron. You should follow the new rules with immediate effect:

  • You must wear a face covering in shops (including hairdressers and food takeaways) and on public transport, unless exempt
  • All contacts of suspected Omicron cases must self-isolate for 10 days, regardless of your vaccination status. You will be contacted by Test and Trace.
  • New countries have been added to the international travel red list requiring you to quarantine on arrival. Please check the current travel advice on the Government website before you travel.
  • All international arrivals must self-isolate on return and take a PCR test on day two. You will need to continue to isolate until you receive a negative result.

Across Hertfordshire and west Essex, more than 346,000 people have already had their booster jab (third dose) – taking action to get protected against the virus before their immunity dips and winter sets in. Six million booster jabs will be available in England over the next three weeks and are now being offered to over 18s, three months after their second jab.

You can book an appointment at a participating local pharmacy or vaccination centres by calling 119 or visiting the NHS website or you can visit a walk-in vaccination centre.
