New Evening Service to be Launched by HertsLynx

Living Magazines HertsLynx Evening Service

HertsLynx, Hertfordshire’s on-demand bus service, is launching a new evening service from Friday 14 April 2023 which will run every Friday and Saturday* from 8-11.30pm. This follows the introduction of a successful equivalent service that ran for the 3 weeks leading up to Christmas.

Passengers will be able to use the evening service to travel anywhere within the HertsLynx operating zone and can book through the app, website or via the call centre.

The introduction of the HertsLynx evening service is part of Hertfordshire County Council’s Government-funded Bus Service Improvement Plan (BSIP) which aims to increase patronage by introducing a number of important initiatives. It is hoped that the evening services will help to boost the evening economies within areas of North & East Herts, as well as improving access for residents who may be working outside of 9-5 hours, attending appointments or leisure activities.

HertsLynx launched on 19 September 2021 and is operated by The Intalink Partnership which is a collaboration between Hertfordshire County Council, the bus and train companies who operate across the county, and the ten local district and borough councils. The service was developed to improve connections between rural areas and town centres, as well as expand access to employment, education, healthcare and leisure activities.

Councillor Phil Bibby, Hertfordshire County Council’s Executive Member for Highways and Transport said: ‘The introduction of a new evening service is a welcome addition to the already excellent service provide by HertsLynx. We have worked closely with our Intalink partners to create a service that can deliver and support growing infrastructure in our county as part of an improved and long-term sustainable transport network that meets the needs of our growing communities’Roads Minister Richard Holden said: ‘People up and down the country deserve a modern, reliable, and affordable public transport system. That is why we have provided Hertfordshire County Council with almost £30 million to boost its bus services.

‘Supporting HertsLynx with providing a new evening service is great for local residents, who will now benefit and be able to make the most of the fantastic work, business and leisure opportunities Hertfordshire has to offer.’
