New Mayor for Dacorum Appointed

Councillor Terry Douris has been appointed as the new Mayor of Dacorum.

Cllr Douris was sworn in at the annual Mayor Making Ceremony last week (15 May). In his acceptance speech, Councillor Douris said: ‘I would like to pay tribute to and acknowledge the tremendous contribution that Councillor Rosie Sutton has made to the borough during her year as Mayor. Rosie has been indefatigable in her support for her charity and all the other organisations that she has supported along with her husband Graham. Thank you Rosie.’

Cllr Douris has acted as Deputy Mayor for the past year. He has lived in Dacorum for over 40 years and has served as a Councillor for Dacorum Borough Council since 2007, representing Ashridge Ward since 2015. He has also been a Councillor for Hertfordshire County Council since 2009.

The Mayor’s charity for the mayoral year is Sunnyside Rural Trust. The Trust is a charity and social enterprise offering training and work experience for vulnerable people across Dacorum. The charity train people with learning disabilities to gain skills in a number of rural activities, including growing plants and produce and beekeeping.

Councillor Stewart Riddick was appointed Deputy Mayor for 2019/2020. Cllr Riddick has been a Dacorum Borough Councillor since 2015, representing Bovingdon, Flaunden and Chipperfield Ward.
