Nonna’s Supper Club opens doors on Christmas Day
This Christmas Day, Nonna’s Supper Club, the much-loved Italian delicatessen and café run by grandmother and granddaughter Romana and Georgina, is turning its space into a warm, welcoming community gathering for anyone in Tring who may be spending Christmas alone or away from their family.
From 10am-1pm, the deli based in Tring, Hertfordshire, will open specially as an ‘open house’, offering free coffee, tea and cake to all who come through the door. There is no charge for attending; however, guests who feel able and wish to contribute can make a donation to Age UK, supporting people who may be facing isolation this festive season.
Romana and Georgina are urging the community to help spread the word, especially to those who may not be on social media.
Georgina Kemp, founder of Nonna’s Supper Club said: ‘If you know someone who will be alone this Christmas, or a neighbour with limited mobility, please consider offering them a lift. No one in Tring should feel they have to spend Christmas by themselves.’
The gesture is deeply rooted in the family’s own story. Over 60 years ago, Nonna made the journey from Calabria to the UK at 21, working for the NHS, where she met Nonno Agostino from Sicily. They married within six months and shared 58 years of love, kindness and family-first Italian tradition.
Today, Romana and Georgina honour that legacy daily, making fresh pasta and creating a joyful, welcoming space on the High Street. This Christmas Day, they’re opening that space to anyone who needs company, comfort or simply a place to belong.
Kemp added: ‘Our doors are open for anyone spending Christmas alone. You’re welcome at our table.’
