Northchurch Social Centre Giving Week 2025
Northchurch Social Centre is a charity at the heart of our community, supporting residents near and far for over 50 years with a space to meet, learn, play, dance, grow, socialise and flourish together – it’s more than just a hall for hire!
The Centre and its trustees have a desire to support the community further, and as such this May, it invites local people and supporters to be part of something special: its first ever Giving Week, running from 16-23 May 2025.
The goal of Giving Week is simple: to rally both financial donations and volunteer involvement that will help expand the Centre’s reach, improve its facilities, and amplify its positive impact across the community.
Gillian, Chair of Northchurch Social Centre says: ‘Every bit of help, big or small, goes directly into making the Centre a better place for everyone in Northchurch and beyond. Whether you can give time, money, or simply show up to support an event, there’s a place for you in Giving Week.’
Funds generated through the Week will be used to further the Centre’s refurbishment programme; a kitchen upgrade, new windows, and an extension on the front of the building to give a more flexible space for hirers and the local community.
Supporting through volunteering their time gives local people the opportunity for fulfilment, joy and a sense of satisfaction, as well as feeling more connected to their local community.
Ways to Get Involved:
- Donate – Financial or material contributions will support critical refurbishments to ensure the building is fit for purpose for years to come – some ideas:
- sponsor new tables for the main hall from £200 each
- contribute to the full cost of extension for front of Centre – £225,000
- new windows in the small hall – £8000
- new comfortable chairs for small hall – £200 each
- refurbishment of toilets – £15,000
- pro-bono construction work would also be welcomed!
- Become a ‘Helping Hand’ for £25 – Join the supporters’ initiative and help sustain the Centre’s work
- Volunteer – Help at upcoming events or a range of other volunteer opportunities from gardening to leaflet distribution
- Attend and celebrate – suppor community events as an attendee, bring your friends and family, and spread the word!
- Come along to a special Community Coffee morning on Friday 16 May 9.30am-12.30pm
- Find the team outside the Northchurch shops on Wednesday 21 May from 3pm – pop along for a chat and a gift during giving week!
- Join a Committee or become a Trustee – Help shape the future of the Centre
- Spread the word – tell friends and family about the Centre, about its facilities for hire, and the groups that happen here. Or, if you’re from a local religious group, why not support that way?
