Featuring in Herts Open Studios 2021, a competition for Year 4 & 5 artists in Dacorum will soon be coming to Open Door in Berkhamsted.
Despite the effects of the pandemic on the school timetable, over 240 entries have been narrowed down to 14 Best in School exhibits on display at Open Door between 20 September and 1 October. The overall winners will be declared after 25 September.
Organised by the Rotary Clubs of Berkhamsted and Hemel Hempstead, The Arts Society Gade Valley and Ashridge DFAS and in its 5th year, this competition aims at stimulating artistic talents in the face of an increasingly narrow schools’ curriculum.
Come and support your local primary schools – if your local school wasn’t able to compete this year, DYA 2022 will feature the theme ‘What our world should look like in 2050’ and will be launched to coincide with the start of Big Green Week on 18 September.
There will be prizes for the Best Overall 1 – 3, and awards for Best in School. Rotary will award and help the winning school plant a 30-tree ‘forest school classroom’. For details of how to enter go to berkorotary.org
