Practical help for local residents in need
When a local single parent with two young children was struggling to keep food fresh after her fridge-freezer broke, she turned to Dacorum Community Trust for help. The Trust quickly provided a replacement item, helping the family avoid further hardship.
Dacorum Community Trust is a small, independent charity established in 1976, dedicated to supporting residents of Dacorum who are facing financial hardship. Serving Berkhamsted, Tring, Hemel Hempstead, and the surrounding villages, it has become a lifeline for individuals and families in crisis across the borough.
Support includes providing essential household items (such as beds, cots, large and small white goods); emergency kitchen and bedding starter packs; and energy and supermarket vouchers.
The Trust also offers referral and signposting services, connecting residents with specialist help from public and voluntary sector agencies throughout the community.
Its support is open to anyone living in Dacorum who needs short-term practical help, regardless of age, background, or personal circumstances. (Support is not available to those living outside the borough or seeking cash payments or debt settlement.)
To ensure the Trust helps those who need it most, applicants must provide proof of residency such as a recent utility bill or tenancy agreement, and evidence of income and expenditure.
