Proactively Committing to Conservation with the World Land Trust

Living Magazines World Land Trust

In 2018, when we purchased Berkhamsted Living Magazine and Tring Living Magazine, we wanted to ensure we were creating an eco-friendly product. We switched to FSC Certified paper immediately and, in 2019 switched our magazine wrap to one made from potato starch to ensure it was 100% compostable. And now, in 2023, we have committed to offsetting the magazines’ carbon footprint with the World Land Trust.

Living Magazines World Land Trust Certificate_CBP0201441024By using Carbon Balanced Paper for the Autumn magazines, we have balanced through World Land Trust the equivalent of 1,834kg of carbon dioxide. This support will enable World Land Trust to protect 350m2 of critically threatened tropical forest. Certificate number CBP020144.

A paper product becomes Carbon Balanced when the emissions associated with its production are balanced (ie offset) by the global conservation charity World Land Trust (WLT).

Contributions to the Carbon Balanced programme are used to protect land from deforestation and degradation, ensuring carbon remains locked-up within these invaluable ecosystems and their trees can continue to absorb CO2.

WLT’s work has helped to protect over 3 million acres of land and over 11,000 species of plants and animals. It has also helped to create jobs and improve the livelihoods of local communities.

By funding the purchase of threatened land, reducing emissions from deforestation, planting trees, and working with local communities, WLT is helping to create a more sustainable future for our planet.
