Ravens Lane bridge Refurbishment

Living Magazines Ravens Lane bridge decoration

Berkhamsted Citizens have brought us news of a big and exciting joint venture they started at the beginning of February.

The Ravens Lane bridge over the Grand Union Canal is being completely refurbished. Berkhamsted Citizens have partnered with the County Council and Osborne (the contractors) in the design of the decoration of the bridge.

The Port of Berkhamsted signs were removed for repair and these are being reinstalled, which is great.

Many of you have been asking about them. Hand painted canal art plaques are being painted by the doyenne of canal art, Phil Speight, and the bridge will look spectacular.

Some of you will sadly be disadvantaged by the closure of the bridge for six weeks; however, this is short-term pain for long-term gain.

Working with Jon Miller of Osborne has shown Berkhamsted Citizens how great it is to work with contractors who understand and love the heritage of our town. They are so grateful for this very positive partnership to enhance our town and hope both you and visitors will all derive a great deal of pleasure from the enhanced bridge.
