Rectory Lane Cemetery to participate in Heritage Open Days

Living Magazines Rectory Lane Cemetery

Our thanks to Rectory Lane Cemetery for this update.

We are looking forward to welcoming our first visitors into the Cemetery, on small group guided tours as part of nationwide Heritage Open Days. This is your first opportunity to experience for yourself the results of all the work that has been going on behind the closed Cemetery gates.

The Project Manager and Community Engagement Officer will be leading the tour: Dead Space to Living Place – the transformation of Rectory Lane Cemetery on five different days. The tours will all start at 2pm at the Rectory Lane entrance and last for about an hour and a half.

In order for our visitors to feel safe we are limiting each tour to 10 participants (this number does not include children, who are very welcome to accompany an adult). These tours are free but places must be booked in advance to ensure we keep to our limit.

To be sure of a place on your preferred date, follow the link to get an Eventbrite ticket:

Visitors will get to walk our new accessible paths and try out our gorgeous seating  throughout the Cemetery – both of which open up new views and offer new experiences.

Our small team of landscapers are continuing to work hard to complete the works in time for the Heritage Open Days.

Our volunteers are doing work parties every Sunday, rather than once a month, at the moment – everywhere you look there is purposeful activity!

Stay well. Thank you so much for your continuing support – we are looking forward to welcoming you back to the Cemetery. If you have any questions about when the Cemetery will opening up completely, please contact the Community Engagement Officer

Best wishes from the Rectory Lane Cemetery Project team, particularly at this challenging time.
