Recycle Week 24-30 September 2018

Living Magazines National Recycle Week

The 15th annual National Recycling week is underway (24 to 30 September) and this year’s theme is ‘We do, because it matters’.

The Blue Planet effect has been a major catalyst in reducing unnecessary plastic, and this year people have been motivated to care about the environment in a way they never have before. Dacorum Borough Council is capitalising on this energy and asking residents to build on this momentum by now focussing on getting recycling right during Recycle Week.

As part of Recycle Week, residents in Dacorum are being encouraged to take some simple steps to make their recycling efforts better than ever. Top tips for Dacorum residents include:

  • Recycle more of these items: shampoo and shower gel bottles, aerosol cans, juice cartons, black plastic trays and aluminium foil (scrunch it into a tennis-ball sized lump first).
  • Make sure these never go in your blue-lidded recycling bin: clothes, nappies or soft plastics such as cellophane, plastic film, crisp packets, sweet wrappers and carrier bags.
  • All recycling should be clean and loose, so remember to wash and squash your recyclables if needed

Residents can also find out what goes in recycling bins by visiting www.dacorum.gov.uk/recycling or email r4d@dacorum.gov.uk.
