Proclamation of the new Sovereign

Dacorum’s Proclamation Ceremony for the new Monarch, His Majesty King Charles III, was hosted at The Forum, Hemel Hempstead on Sunday 11 September at 4pm.

The ceremony was led by the Mayor of Dacorum, Councillor John Birnie. The Proclamation was read by Deputy Lieutenant of Hertfordshire, Jo Connell OBE, and prayers said on behalf of all faiths for the new sovereign by Reverend Canon John Williams.

Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II

Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II Lying-in-State at the Palace of Westminster opened to the public at 5pm on Wednesday 14 September for 24 hours a day until it closes at 6.30am on Monday 19 September.

The State Funeral will take place at Westminster Abbey on Monday 19 September at 11am.

Government Guidance on The Queen’s Lying-in-State

National Moment of Reflection

This Sunday, the public have been invited to take part in a National Moment of Reflection to mourn the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and reflect on her life and legacy.

The National Moment of Reflection will take place at 8pm on Sunday 18 September, the night before the State Funeral, and will be marked by a one minute’s silence.

This week, Council meetings have started with a one minute’s silence as a mark of respect.
