Residents invited to join ‘Wild About Dacorum’ Community Fair
The Dacorum Climate Action Network (Dacorum CAN) is warmly inviting residents to join the ‘Wild About Dacorum’ Community Fair on Thursday 2 April, from 6pm-8pm at The Forum, Hemel Hempstead.
This event will showcase the work on nature recovery in Dacorum and provide residents with opportunities to get involved with nature and biodiversity projects throughout the borough. It will also celebrate the power of community and how everyone can contribute to making Dacorum a wilder borough, where nature can thrive.
Dacorum CAN is also keen to highlight the impact that small actions can have on wildlife, for example, the planting of flowers for pollinators, or adding a bird box to your garden which can truly make a difference.
What to expect:
- Learn about the many organisations and community groups working across Dacorum to support wildlife and habitats.
- Discover a range of local volunteering opportunities. Giving just a few hours a week to a local wildlife project can have a great impact.
- Take part in an eco-quiz to learn more about nature, with an exciting prize draw for the winner.
Cllr Caroline Smith-Wright, Portfolio Holder for People and Transformation (including Climate and Ecological Emergency) said: ‘There is a tangible sense of community spirit when people get together and work together for a common cause, that affects us all.
‘This evening is about celebrating and highlighting all the incredible hard work that is happening across our communities for nature recovery and encouraging others to get involved in our sustainable mission to make Dacorum a cleaner greener borough.’
Cllr Robin Bromham Portfolio Holder for Neighbourhood Operations said: ‘Dacorum has a wonderfully varied landscape and nationally important habitats such as chalk grasslands, ancient woodlands and chalk streams. We are fortunate to have so many enthusiastic volunteers and organisations who work with Dacorum Borough Council to preserve and improve these habitats.’
