Reunion Remembers Old School Days

Ashlyns Class of 1966 Reunion

A group of Ashlyns old scholars held a reunion in the summer for pupils who started at the school in 1966.

The event also raised £590 for The Hospice of St Francis, including a donation from the Londis store in Greenway, Chesham.

This was the fourth reunion so far, and numbers have been steadily growing over the years, with 25 old pupils attending this year.

Elaine Low came from the other side of the world for the reunion. Elaine, who lives in New Zealand, said: ‘I loved Ashlyns and am still good friends with many of the others who attended, especially from my own form.

‘They transported me around this country and shared their homes and lives with me for a while.

‘Memories of school come flooding back when we are together and cause much laughter, even though the stories may get stretched from year to year!’

Another member of the class of 1966, Stephen Bateman, added: ‘The weather was excellent as was the barbecue – and of course the company. This is now an established annual event and we are always keen to find new people who remember joining Ashlyns as a terrified 11-year-old in 1966.’
