Save The Plough – Object Now

Living Magazines Save The Plough Potten End

The deadline for objections to the planning application to change the use of The Plough in Potten End is this Friday 13 November. Joe Roberts of the Community Interest Company urges you to make it a lucky day:

It’s been far from quiet on the community bid to save The Plough – so much has been going on behind the scenes but now is the time to step up and make some noise…

Thanks to so many generous pledges and after advice from a valuer, we have submitted a serious offer based on the current condition of the pub to the freehold owner!

We needed to put an offer in now not just because the moratorium period is coming to an end but because the last hurdle to purchase is the change of use application on The Plough. We really need everyone who has pledged, everyone who support our social enterprise and everyone who supports the community to object now if they’ve not already done so!

The deadline for objections to the planning application is THIS Friday 13 November. We did it before – over 80 objections were sent to Dacorum last time around – so let’s do it again.

All the planning documents and way to object can be viewed by clicking HERE.

We will be updating our Facebook page and the Potten End Community Group page over the next day or so with specific reasons with which to object but many of the objections such as loss of amenity and loss of a community asset apply again.

Our main focus currently is to secure the building for the community – because once it’s gone, it’s gone! We will update you shortly with our revised strategy but in the here and now it is vital that we get this application thrown out and let The Plough remain as a public house – a valued community asset.

We are still fundraising so if you’ve not yet pledged either through the loan scheme or a donation, please contact us: communityplough@hotmail.com. Our target to raise the rest of the money for the purchase of the building is the end of December. We are in a position where we can approach banks and other lenders to make up the small shortfall but we’d much rather keep it in community hands.

Let’s make Friday 13th a lucky day for The Plough. Please object now!

Yours sincerely, Joe Roberts.
