Saving Castle Fields

Berkhamsted Castle Fields Tree Shadows

The campaign to raise £500,000 to complete the acquisition of Castle Fields is continuing throughout 2026 and 2027, with many events taking place, including a duck race. You don’t need to be quackers to take part, or even bring your own duck!

Look out for these events on Facebook and on noticeboards throughout the town. For full details see www.berkhamstedcastle.org.uk/castlefields, or visit the stall at the Berkhamsted Artisan Market on Sunday 8 March.

Berkhamsted Castle Trust has 20 months to pay back the loan of £500,000 that enabled it to buy the fields and the total raised so far is £71,016.

To raise more funds, The Castle Fields Flyers are competing in the Berkorun on Sunday 1 March. If you want to join the team, and take part either in the half marathon or five-mile fun run, you’ll be helping charities such as DENS, The Pepper Foundation and the Hospice of St Francis, through your entry fee, and you can help save a piece of Berkhamsted’s historic countryside with sponsorship.

For more information, contact Simon Lewis at simon.lewis6@btconnect.com.

If you are not up for the run, but would like to sponsor one of the Castle Fields Flyers, you can do so at www.justgiving.com/campaign/castlefieldsflyers until the end of March.
