Signed Gavin and Stacey Script up for Grabs
A signed Gavin and Stacey script donated to small inclusive arts charity, The Theatre Shed, has raised an incredible £30,000 so far via an online raffle.
The Theatre Shed is currently raffling a signed Gavin and Stacey: The Finale script, generously donated by Robert Wilfort, who plays Jason West. The raffle has already raised a significant amount of money, generating much-needed publicity for the inclusive charity.
The Theatre Shed provides inclusive arts activities in Chesham, Buckinghamshire, for young people and adults with and without disabilities and additional needs. Shed’s members are given creative control of the company with every show being original and created using their own words and ideas. Run by a team of professional creatives, and supported by a team of trained volunteer mentors, Shed ensures every person, whatever their support need or experience, feels included and elevated through inclusive practice. Shed aims to create access, raise aspirations, build confidence and break down social expectations through the creative arts.
Robert Wilfort says, ‘I’m so pleased to be able to donate this original signed script to help raise funds for the wonderful Theatre Shed. The work they do is so important and life affirming. They provide a supportive, welcoming space for young people to express themselves. I would recommend any parent in the local area to consider enrolling their child at Shed. It’s so hard for charities to raise money in the current climate, I hope all Gavin and Stacey fans will consider buying a ticket to help this brilliant cause, and who knows, maybe you might win the prize!’
The raffle served as a welcome relief for the charity, which always faces stiff competition for funding. The current funding climate makes it incredibly challenging, with so many important and worthy charities vying for limited resources.
‘We’re honestly lost for words with the success of the raffle,’ said Alice, the Artistic Director of The Theatre Shed. ‘We never anticipated it would raise so much and, even better, bring so much attention to our wonderful cause. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who is participating in the raffle, and of course, to the incredibly generous Robert Wilfort for donating the script and endorsing our small but mighty charity!’
This year marks The Theatre Shed’s 20th anniversary, and the raffle’s success is a fantastic way to kick off the celebrations.
The raffle is still open for entries and closes at 10am on Monday 13 January 2025.
