Sir Mike Penning MP Congratulates Local Schools on Artsmark Awards

Sir Mike Penning, Member of Parliament for Hemel Hempstead, has congratulated four local schools on their silver Artsmark award.

The Artsmark Award is the only creative quality standard for schools and education settings, accredited by Arts Council England. Artsmark Award supports settings to develop and celebrate their commitment to arts and cultural education.

Through the Artsmark Award programme schools encourage children to learn about and enjoy the arts. It develops children’s creativity and inspires future careers.

Four local schools have achieved the silver Artsmark award: Boxmoor Primary, Great Gaddesden CofE Primary, Hobletts Manor Infants and Micklem Primary with a number of others working towards the award.

Sir Mike said: ‘I congratulate local schools on achieving their Silver Artsmark Award. High quality art and culture education encourages children to be creative and develops confidence. Artsmark Award helps promote a balanced curriculum and can foster an interest in art and culture that will remain with a child for the rest of their life.’
