Slip into Slippers is the Age UK Dacorum inaugural Autumn FUNdraising and Awareness Campaign where they are asking individuals, families, businesses, schools and clubs, to get involved by slipping into their slippers for a day, have some fun and possibly take some photos/videos and make a small donation to Age UK Dacorum. The chosen day for their Slipper-thon is Friday 1 October, as that is United Nations International Day of Older Persons, and thus the hope is for the communities to come together and celebrate the privilege of aging.
On this day, with your help, Age UK Dacorum will be highlighting the needs of older people and raise vital funds to support their services, so they can strive to meet some of those needs. The range of services include supporting older people to live independently and safely, preferably in their own home and they also provide opportunities for older people to take part in social activities and meet friends. Loneliness is a growing concern particularly in old age and has a significant impact on their health and wellbeing.
Age UK Dacorum is part of the national Age UK ‘network’ but many people don’t realise that, as a local independent charity, they must raise our own funds to run their services. This is therefore a community campaign that will directly benefit local older people and all fundraising raised will stay within Dacorum.
David Pearce, the Chief Executive of Age UK Dacorum says: ‘This year has been a significant challenge for everyone. Our charity has had to adapt to ensure the people who need us most receive the help they need in these very difficult times. To continue our work we need to raise funds. We hope you will show your support and join us in your families, businesses, schools, clubs, on-line groups with Slip into Slippers on Friday 1 October.’
A number of the team at local website design and development company, Indigo Tree Digital, are still working from the comforts of their own home and, on Friday 1 October, they’ll be supporting Age UK Dacorum’s ‘Slip into Slippers’ campaign by inviting the team, whether home or office-based, to wear their comfy to the team meeting, to raise money for this very important cause. Can you do the same? If so, complete the donation form.
As a business, one of Indigo’s core values is ‘inclusivity’, which drives them to design and build websites that are accessible to people of all ages and abilities, to ensure that everybody has the same online experience. They’re also a great supporter of local charities and are proud to help Age UK Dacorum to highlight the needs of older people and raise vital funds to support their services.
We are all aging, help Age UK Dacorum to create the environment and support services you would like to receive.
