Slipper Swap Comes to Berkhamsted Library this November

Living Magazines Herts Slipper Swap Dec 2023

Hertfordshire County Council’s popular slipper swap events return this November, giving residents the chance to throw away old, tired slippers and pick up a brand new non-slip pair.

The slipper swap events taking place this autumn and winter are the result of a collaboration between Hertfordshire County Council’s adult care service and library service.

The free, drop-in events in libraries offer older residents and people with disabilities free anti-slip slippers in addition to professional advice and support to keep them safe and well over the colder months.

Occupational therapists will be available to speak to at most events, along with community partners. Attendees will also be able to collect a free Warm in Winter gift bag, provided by Small Acts of Kindness, and get information on the Carers Library Card and the Home Library Service.

Caroline Clapper, Executive Member for Education, Libraries, and Lifelong Learning said: ‘Hertfordshire County Council is offering residents a helping hand this winter with free slipper swap events. A secure pair of slippers can seriously reduce the risk of falls in the home, so please tell someone you know who could benefit from a new pair about the upcoming events in our libraries.’

All events are taking place between 10am and 1pm. There is no need to book in advance, just come along.

Our local Slipper Swap 2024 will be held at Berkhamsted Library from 10am-1pm on Thursday 21 November.
