Space Adventure at Dunstable Downs
This February half-term there will be star-filled fun for all the family at Dunstable Downs. Once again Dark Sky Wales are returning with their pop-up Planetarium and Space Show. With a bigger dome and lots more space-themed events and activities, there is something for everyone.
Visitor Experience Manager, Stacey Catchpole says: ‘We are really excited to have the team from Dark Sky Wales coming again this year. It was so popular last year that they are bringing their bigger Planetarium this year and we have added some extra events like the Valentine’s Stargazing evening. What better way to spend a romantic evening with your loved one than gazing into the stars. It’s something really different for Valentine’s day.
‘The Downs is a perfect place to take a journey into space. Sometimes it feels like we are already halfway there! As well as the Planetarium there will be many other fun activities going on including face painting, space colouring, a space-themed photo booth and, if the weather is good, there will also be telescopes to take a closer look into space. The shop will be full of space-themed gifts and even the café will take you into outer space with cosmic cake, big bang burgers and super space soup.’

Tuesday 12 to Friday 15 February 2019 10am-3pm
Journey with us on a thrilling space adventure, and dance amongst the stars in this magical experience led by astronomical experts Martin and Alan from Dark Sky Wales. This year’s planetarium will explore new stars and planets within our galaxy, not previously seen in our planetarium and take you to worlds beyond our own. Each show last 30 minutes and booking is essential.

Family Stargazing Evenings
12 & 13 February 5-8pm
Fly through far away stars, explore crater-covered planets, and experience the cosmos like never before, guided by our awesome expert astronomers. Grab your popcorn as we take you on a thrilling journey into outer space. You will hear a talk from the space experts including a former NASA astronomer and even get to try on a real space helmet. Join us for an alien hunt and your chance to win a rocket. With all this and lots more space games and activities it is sure to be a family outing like no other.

Valentine’s Stargazing Evening
14 February 6-9pm
Want to do something unusual and unique this Valentine’s Day for your loved one? Then surprise them by joining us at Dunstable Downs for a magical, romantic evening of stargazing, guided by experts from Dark Sky Wales and UK Astronomy. Start the evening with canapes and a celebratory drink, followed by popcorn whilst soaring through the stars during the planetarium experience. Take a closer look at the magnificent, mighty planets of our solar system, and learn about the glittering, dazzling stars nestled against the inky, cosmic sky. What could be more romantic?
