Stepping Stones Turns Sixty

Messy play Stepping Stones Tring

In the centre of Tring, Stepping Stones Pre-School recently celebrated their 60th anniversary. The Pre-School began as a Mothers Union in 1963 and has continued to evolve to now provide children from 2-5 years old with a fun and engaging environment to build their confidence and imagination.

Each week there is a different topic based on the children’s interests and a variety of activities will be planned to help them learn and grow through play. The pre-school has indoor and outdoor play space allowing the children to experience a wide range of activities from bike riding, sand and water play, painting and craft to dressing up and imaginative play.

As a charity-run Pre-School, fundraising is very important to provide funds for replacing and buying additional equipment and toys. Recently the children participated in a sponsored danceathon. For 3 days there was a half-hour dance party with disco lights, bubbles and glow sticks. The children also tackled an Easter treasure hunt challenge which encouraged the children to find items inside and outside using their best searching skills. The children were sponsored by friends and family and did a great job raising £1000!

Regular fundraising is essential for the Pre-School and there are further events planned with a stall at the Family Fun Day on Saturday 11 May where there will be games, biscuit decorating and glitter tattoos.

Twice a term there are Messy Play Sessions on a Friday afternoon open to everyone where children can experience play with anything from jelly, paint, water and custard through to playdough and foam. There is no need to book, the next sessions are 14 June and 5 July.
