Successful Concert for the Jazz Baroness

A concert was held on 24 September 2022 to honour Nica Rothschild, (1913 to 1988). She was known as The Jazz Baroness and spent her early life at the Mansion Tring Park. To celebrate her remarkable story the Tring Local History Society held a jazz concert at Hastoe Village Hall, Tring.

Music was provided by the jazz septet The Shoe Horns, who have all studied together at Jazz School UK. They played pieces that were played regularly and recorded by a remarkable group of women from the jazz era who knew and were friends of Nica. Several of these pieces were inspired by or dedicated to Nica. Interest was added by relating stories from Nica’s life, as well as those of the Divas.
