T-Rex-traordinary opportunity for dinosaur experience

Hertfordshire primary school pupils are being given a roarsome opportunity to win a free interactive dinosaur experience, in a county-wide T-Rex-traordinary competition.

As the schools return for a new term, Giant Journeys, which provides educational immersive workshops for children, has opened a public vote on social media for teachers and parents to put their schools forward to meet Reggie – a five-metre-long animatronic T-Rex – in a special session.

Giant Journeys was established in September 2024 by founder Darren Smith, who has a passion for creative education and a more than two decades of experience providing innovative experiences for children.

Darren’s unique educational experiences are a novel way to engage young learners in historical topics. As well as Reggie the T-Rex, Darren offers insights into World War I, the Stone Age, the Egyptians and the Romans through AI workshops, to bring the eras to life for the children. He also offers VR tours of the human body, under the sea and the solar system.

The innovative entrepreneur said: ‘Giant Journeys is fuelled by an immense passion for delivering enriching, curriculum-focused experiences in primary schools. Some might call them workshops, but we prefer journeys, as they are unique, immersive experiences taking you to another place and learning new skills together.

‘We aim to spark curiosity and a love for learning through interactive and engaging experiences that make education an unforgettable adventure.

Voting is open until the competition closes on 23 October 2026. Winners will be announced shortly afterwards. Runners up will receive a coveted discount voucher.
