The Napoleonic experience returns with a bang
On 24 and 25 May Bank Holiday, over 150 Napoleonic re-enactors from riflemen to cavalry will take over Chiltern Open Air Museum in Chalfont St Giles, Buckinghamshire. Visitors can watch expert displays of skirmishes, horsepower, cannons and weaponry from the Napoleonic era.
At this special living history event, the sights and sounds of the early 19th century come alive. From the uniforms and drill of the common soldier to the daily life of civilians caught in an age of empire, revolution, and resilience. Step back into a world of musket smoke, thundering hooves, and gain an insight into the encampments where soldiers and their wives lived during this momentous time.
Displays throughout the day include the rifles gathering for drills, horse mounted cavalry displaying their skills, cannon-firing, weapons competitions and an epic skirmish that brings the Napoleonic battlefield to life. Around the site there will be activities for the whole family to engage in. There will also be the opportunity to meet actor, Jason Salkey who played Rifleman Harris from the hit TV show Sharpe.
