The Olde Kings Arms Wins Best Newcomer

Living Magazines Ben Satchfield of The Olde Kings Arms withe Best Newcomer award

You may remember we featured news of The Olde Kings Arms landlord, Ben Satchfield, doing a charity job swap with local vicar John Williams in December. So we were delighted when the Hemel Hempstead pub contacted us again to let us know they’d won their brewery’s Best Newcomer award.

On 10th January, Bedford-based brewer Charles Wells hosted its annual awards celebrating its pub partners and their achievements throughout last year.

Fresh and new to the industry, Ben took on The Olde Kings Arms in May 2017. The judges were particularly impressed with Ben’s innovative initiatives such as installing an outdoor bar and pizza oven to his garden area.

Ben commented: ‘I’m incredibly proud to have won Best Newcomer at the awards. This was my first ever pub and with the help of my team we have made many improvements to the the building and customer experience. We know that the customers appreciate what we do, but to be recognised at this level by Charles Wells is absolutely fantastic.’

Our warmest congratulations go to Ben for this well-deserved award. You can read more about the awards and other winners in the full press release.
