The road to A&E

Berkhamsted and Tring Living Magazines hospital feature

Events have overtaken one of our main news stories in the winter issues of Berkhamsted Living and Hemel Hempstead Living.

Alongside an article about the campaign for a new hospital to serve Dacorum, we used a picture (by kind permission of footballtripper.com) of Vicarage Road on a matchday, to highlight the absurdity of relying entirely on a hospital adjacent to a Premier League football club.

Since then, however, access to Watford General from Vicarage Road has been greatly reduced and a new road has opened leading to the hospital. Most people from Dacorum going to Watford General will now have to travel three-quarters of the way round Watford to get to it.

To reach Thomas Sawyer Way you need to circumnavigate Watford almost as far as Bushey Arches. The only remaining access from Vicarage Road is for dropping off, short-stay (1hr) parking or parking for disabled people.
