Three Piece Bar shaking up the scene in Hertfordshire
Alex Legret and Dan Twine of Three Piece Bar, are now co-owners of The Lamb, Berkhamsted, a premium pub with brand new restaurant & bar for adults only.
It would be an understatement to say the boys have been busy in the last year. Not only has their mobile cocktail bar business continued to go from strength to strength, holding its number 1 position on Google, and with the likes of Nigella Lawson & Wimbledon as regular clients; they decided to take on the renovation of a Grade II listed pub in Berkhamsted, their home town.
With a genuine desire to expand their extensive knowledge of the drinks and hospitality industry; when the opportunity arose to take over a local favourite Grade II listed pub in Berkhamsted, it seemed to be a natural progression for the company to take this exciting project on.
This duo’s ethos is to offer prestige and showmanship without effort, all in a glass – and they don’t disappoint. The pub now boasts a bespoke cocktail menu, combining superior spirits with daring ingredients – think rose vermouth with apple cider vinegar, rhubarb and cardamom, or vegan pisco sours and pornstar martinis… and you really start to get an understanding of the level and quality of cocktails which The Lamb, Berkhamsted serve. They by far surpass anything else offered up locally and beyond.
But it’s not all about The Lamb, (although it is pretty big news!)
The duo have been focusing on taking their existing cocktail business to the next level. Starting out as sole traders from 2016-2019, then a limited company to date, they have now taken on a further 3 permanent staff. With an additional 15+ staff members from The Lamb at their disposal, the company can offer much more in the way of event bartenders and waiters. Most importantly, they have appointed an Event Manager, Clare Legret, who started in this new position last November. While her main role is to take over the management side of the business, she will also be involved in developing social media and marketing. Working closely with award-winning business coach Simon Ellson and marketing guru Al Tepper – this team are poised to raise the bar once again with this rapidly growing company.
Serving flirtatious and alluring cocktails for clients will always remain the main focus of Three Piece Bar; however, the boys don’t want to stand still and the challenge this year is to branch out into event planning. Alex explains why:
‘We consider ourselves to be a boutique bar company of the highest calibre – always delivering quality over quantity, which is where a lot of our competitors fail. Whilst we continue to be focused on our core business of cocktails for events, we have identified that many clients need additional help in organising their event; whether it’s a private party at home, or something much larger. Over the years, we’ve been lucky enough to work with a wide range of businesses and develop relationships with the best ones – like marquee companies, photographers, caterers, DJs and florists. That got us thinking about the next step.’
Co-Founder, Dan Twine added, ‘It made perfect sense to start tapping into who and what we knew – and we were ready to offer another dimension to our existing cocktail business. So with the help of Clare and the support from Simon and Al, we plan to create a big push in the area of Event Planning. With The Lamb at our disposal, we can host our clients like no other event company and offer tastings in the comfort of the pub’s cocktail bar – something which our clients really appreciate. It’s exciting – we don’t know where it will take us – but we’re definitely ready for another challenge!’
