Jude Bellingham trumps Haaland and Mbappé to be ranked #1 world Football star
- Jude Bellingham is ranked 1/200
- Messi (ranked 5th) has a lower market value than Wesley Fofana (ranked 199)
- Despite being the same age, Kadeisha Buchanan has almost double the amount of caps as Joshua Kimmich (140 vs 82)
- Ewa Pajor has one of the highest caps/goals ratios in pack 1
- Players from every league around the world, including Messi, Ronaldo as well as top female players
Launched this week, Top Trumps World Football Stars Top 200 ranks the top 200 football players from every league around the world, including both men and women. The top 200 players will be released as a range of 6 collectible packs across 6 months (Jun-Nov) and football fans can expect to see cards full of facts and statistics on their favourite footballers.
In true Top Trumps style, the cards include the following categories; ‘Age’, ‘Goals’, ‘Trophies’, ‘Height’, ‘Caps’ and the all important ‘Top Trumps Ranking’.
Each card also includes the player’s position, market value and World Cup Appearances, alongside a ‘Fact File’ about the player.
England’s Jude Bellingham (who appears in pack 1) comes out as not only one of the youngest players in pack 1, but as #1 in the Top Trumps ranking, compared to Messi who has more caps, goals and trophies than him. Bellingham’s value is €150m though, compared to Messi’s €35m, taking him up to the #1 spot. He also trumps Haaland and Mbappé, who appear later in other packs.
The inclusion of female players in the deck sees England’s Keira Walsh, Leah Williamson and Millie Bright take on USA’s Lindsey Horan and Sophia Smith, as well as France’s Selma Bacha and Canada’s Kadeisha Buchanan.
Poland’s Ewa Pajor, who ranks 32 in the world, comes out trumps in pack 1, with 75 caps, beating Ederson, Alisson and Bellingham. She has also scored 59 goals in her career, taking her above all the other women and most men in the pack!
Which female player ranks in the top 10 though? You will have to collect all six packs to see!
Pack 1 also features Takefusa Kubo, Real Sociodad’s first ever Japanese player, and the only Japanese player currently playing in La Liga.
Top Trumps has partnered with The Rest Is Football for the launch, and the podcast sees the hosts Gary Lineker, Alan Shearer and Micah Richards comparing the players in pack 1 alongside football influencer Tekkerz Kid.
When speaking about the partnership, Gary Lineker said: ‘I’m delighted that The Rest Is Football will be partnering with Top Trumps ahead of a huge summer of sport, headlined by England’s quest to be crowned European Champions in Germany. It’s great to have the team at Top Trumps sponsoring our podcast and bringing young superstar Tekkerz Kid into the fold to join me, Alan and Micah on this campaign.
‘Playing Top Trumps together took me back to years gone by, playing the game with my kids on summer holidays. The Top Trumps World Football Stars Top 200 collection is a must-have for anyone who loves football, and a great way to engage, educate and entertain young fans on the world’s best players like World Cup hero Lionel Messi and England wonderkid Jude Bellingham.’
Over the years, parents have become increasingly frustrated having to spend money on blind sachets while their child tries to complete the Panini sticker album. With high chances of getting a repeat sticker, a football finance expert claims it could cost almost £900 to complete an album (BBC News Article). With Top Trumps World Football Stars Top 200, it costs just £48 to collect all 200 players across 6 packs. Even one pack can be played alone and still gives a fantastic game full of some of the world’s best players, facts and stats, all with shiny finishes. What’s more is that there is no need for trading and swapping: just wait for the packs to release each month.
This year some football fans are disappointed with the official Euro 2024 sticker album (by Topps), as many of the big players are missing, including England’s Phil Foden, Marcus Rashford and Bukayo Saka, as well as Germany’s Toni Kroos and Manuel Neuer. Luckily these players appear across the 6 packs of Top Trumps World Football Stars Top 200!
There will be 6 packs launching over 6 months. Top Trumps World Football Stars Top 200 Pack 1 (RRP £8) and Starter Kit (RRP £14.99) are available now at WH Smith, The Entertainer and toptrumps.com.
