Tranquility on the Canal

Our thanks to Colin Jones, from Slapton, who sent us this wonderful photo he took during lockdown recently!

By day, Colin works as a Project Manager in telecoms. However, he’s had an interest in photography for many years and classes himself as an experienced amateur.

He took this shot with his Canon EOS 7D with a Sigma 150mm – 600mm Zoom Lens attached.

This shot seems to capture a mood of a bygone days and, at the time, Colin felt that he’d stepped back to the days of barges being used for transporting goods across the country.

As a result of lockdown, Colin says, ‘There was a silence around the area that was palpable and the elderly gentleman on the barge seems almost to be from that era.

‘I like the surface of the canal, covered in insects, also the very light wisp of smoke coming from the barge, adding to the mood.’
