Tring Brewery Launches ‘Hop Beard Oil’ with Profits for Men’s Mental Health
Tring Brewery have released a beard oil scented with fruity aromas and real hop extract styled on their popular IPA ‘Raven King’, with profits given to local charity Hector’s House.
Created in collaboration with local makers Bare Essentials, who specialise in natural body care products, the beard oil boasts a bouquet of citrus, pine and tropical fruits. The aroma of the oil has taken lead from Tring Brewery’s popular IPA, Raven King, the artwork of which features a pensive warrior, inspiring the brewery’s drive for men’s mental health.
Tring Brewery have worked closely with Hector’s House since January of this year, announcing the Berkhamsted-based organisation as their ‘Charity of Choice’ for 2024.
Hector’s House was founded in 2016 to campaign in the name of Hector Stringer, a Tring local who sadly took his life aged 18. Based in Berkhamsted, just down the road from Tring Brewery, Hector’s House aims to prevent suicide and reduce mental health stigma through education, awareness and support.
Raven King Beard Oil enjoys a timely launch in November, a month that sees groups such as ‘Movember’ (a portmanteau of moustache and, you guessed it, November) champion men’s mental health causes via fundraising challenges such as the growing of beards and moustaches.
The limited-release beard oils are packaged in 30ml glass bottles with labels stylised on the brewery’s Raven King IPA, sold for £10 per bottle.
Jared Ward, public relations at Tring Brewery explains: ‘It has been a rush to work with Nicky from Bare Essentials to create a product that is both unique and kind-of-heart. Hector’s House are a charity that are kept close in the minds and hearts of those in the brewery team, to do this in their name and with their blessing has been so very fulfilling. We hope to spread a little cheer with this quirky release, letting fans of our hazy IPA know that even warrior kings struggle, and these struggles should be destigmatised and supported as best possible. We would like to thank Nicky for her selfless efforts in what is now our second charitable collaboration with Bare Essentials, her expertise and shared community values are a perfect fit with ourselves. Last but not least we would like to thank our supplier Acorn Press for their contribution of free labels, an amazing act that has allowed us to maximise profits for Hector’s House.’
Soap-maker Nicky Gordon remarks: ‘I was delighted when Jared from Tring Brewery asked me to work with them to make a ‘beer’d’oil for Hector’s House. Not only was it great fun designing the formulation with the Team at Tring Brewery, but it is a privilege to be part of a collaboration supporting such an important and worthwhile charity.’
Dec O’Hara, communication lead at Hector’s House said: ‘It has been fantastic to work with Tring Brewery throughout the year, and now, with Nicky from Bare Essentials. Local businesses supporting local people, that is what it all about. We are very thankful to be at the heart of such a creative, collaborative process and hope this can create conversations that a go a way to destigmatise mental health dialogue in the community.’
