Residents in Tring are being reminded that this evening, councillors will be voting on renewed proposals to include 2,050 new homes (a 40 per cent increase in the size of Tring) in the area expansion plan, instead of 250 (a 5 per cent increase).

Despite an appeal for planning permission of the Marshcroft development being dismissed by the Secretary of State back in March, this latest vote will put it firmly back on top of the agenda.

Graham Bright, Chairman of the Grove Fields Residents Association, has reported that the Dacorum Cabinet will recommend the higher housing numbers for a decision to be made by Full Council tonight, Tuesday 15 October.

Graham asks, ‘If you can, please do attend the meeting in person or online to show the strength of feeling. No doubt the vote will be close and we need more councillors to vote against the new plan to win.’  To that end, Graham has published a full list of councillors in Dacorum who have a vote, with their email address, on the Facebook Group Everything Tring, along with suggested wording. ‘It’s not too late to make your voice heard.’

For information, a full list of the Tring councillors can be found on the council website. Councillor and Tring Mayor Brian Patterson will have a vote this evening and his email is: Brian.patterson@dacorum.gov.uk

Presumably the newly elected Victoria Collins, MP for Harpenden & Berkhamsted (which also includes Tring) will also be in attendance and her email is victoria.collins.mp@parliament.uk

The Full Council meeting is tonight, Tuesday 15 October 2024 at 7.30pm at Council Chamber, The Forum, Marlowes, Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire HP1 1DN

A final word from Graham: ‘We are holding out hope that local Councillors will do what they promised when they were elected and implement the local plan they put forward in 2023 that increased the number of houses in Tring by 5%.

‘However, we are very concerned that they are in the process of doing a U-Turn and proposing to increase the number of houses in Tring by 40%, all of this being built on our precious green belt.’
