Tring Garden Centre leads way in fundraising effort
British Garden Centres has once again shown its commitment to Greenfingers by presenting the charity with a cheque for an incredible £52,000, raised through the charity’s 25th anniversary year, packed with fundraising activities across its 73 garden centres nationwide.
Surpassing 2024’s £30,000 total, a big highlight of the year was Garden Re‑Leaf Day, which raised an incredible £20,000 across the largest family-run garden centre group. Stores hosted bake sales, raffles, tombolas, car washes and competitions, all helping to make the day a success. Tring Garden Centre took the lead by hosting the Southern Garden Re‑Leaf Walk, with staff and supporters stepping out to raise extra funds.
Teams continued to raise money and awareness for Greenfingers in many creative ways. Tring Garden Centre once again held its popular Charity Quiz and Shopping Night, bringing the community together for a fun evening in aid of the cause.
The group also helped raise the profile of the charity at national events. British Garden Centres supplied plants for ‘The Greenfingers Charity Anniversary Garden’ at BBC Gardeners’ World Live, marking 25 years of the charity’s work creating beautiful hospice gardens.
Greenfingers creates and maintains inspiring gardens in children’s hospices across the UK, giving young people and families a place to relax and enjoy time together.
Charles, Amy, and Libby Stubbs joined the British Garden Centres Regional and Restaurant Regional Managers to present the cheque to Linda Petrons, Director of Fundraising and Communications at Greenfingers Charity.
Amy said, ‘We’re so proud of how our teams and customers have come together again this year to support Greenfingers. From bake sales and walks to volunteering and national shows, every event shows the difference we can make when we work together. Greenfingers is a charity that means a lot to us, and we’re honoured to keep playing our part in helping them create more special gardens in UK hospices for children and families.’
Linda added her sincere thanks: ‘British Garden Centres has been an incredible supporter once again this year. To have raised an astonishing £52,000 is truly remarkable and reflects the extraordinary generosity, enthusiasm and kindness of every team member. This phenomenal sum will make a lasting difference, funding the creation and upkeep of Greenfingers gardens in children’s hospices, places filled with peace, colour and joy for families who need them most.’
