Tring Hockey Club Centenary Ball

Living Magazines Tring Hockey Club Centenary

This year marks the 100th anniversary of Tring Hockey Club, and while sticks might have changed and rules might be a bit different, the ethos of the club remains the same – to provide a friendly, family-oriented club open to all.

‘Formed after World War 1, hockey started to be played on the outfield of Tring Park Cricket Club,’ explains Tring Hockey Club President Patrick Barr.

‘While hockey used to be male-dominated, nowadays it’s enjoyed by men and women of all ages, from our minis aged five and six, to our oldest playing member, Gilbert Grace, 82, who played his first game in 1948 on a frozen Wilstone reservoir!’

The Centenary Ball will take place on Saturday 21 September and will be open to all players, ex club members and supporters.

If you are interested in playing hockey, contact club secretary Nigel Woodall, nigel.woodall@me.com or go to www.tringhockeyclub.org.
