Tring is Back in the Swim

Living Magazines Tring Sports Centre Swimming Pool opening ceremony

Following the completion of an extensive refurbishment programme, the swimming pool at Tring Sports Centre has re-opened. The Mayor of Tring, Cllr Roxanne Ransley officially opened the swimming pool at a ‘ribbon cutting’ ceremony on Saturday 8 June) After the formalities were over, families were invited to try out the improved facilities at one of the free family fun swim sessions.

Working closely with Tring School, Dacorum Borough Council have provided investment of £1.8M to modernise the pool and other facilities.

Since the temporary closure of the swimming pool last year, significant works have been carried out to transform the reception area, changing rooms and viewing gallery. The swimming pool and surrounding walkways have been re-surfaced and significant mechanical and engineering works completed, including the replacement of the major plant items that operate the swimming pool, to improve efficiency and reduce running costs.

Councillor Andrew Williams, Leader of the Council and Portfolio Holder for Corporate and Contracted Services said: ‘It is fantastic to see the Council’s investment in Tring Sports Centre come to fruition with the re-opening of the swimming pool. I’m sure the community will benefit hugely from this great asset, whether learning an important life skill, keeping active or simply having fun in the water.’

The sports centre is part of the facilities at Tring School and will be operated by Tring Sport and Leisure Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of the school. Students will use the facilities during the school day. The centre, including the swimming pool will be available for use by the wider community outside these hours.
