Tring Lions Looking to the Future

Living Magazines Tring Lions minibus

Tring Lions were busy over the Christmas period raising funds and supporting local events, through the annual outdoor carol service attended by around 1,000 people on Christmas Eve, £1550 was shared between the Pepper Foundation and the Tring first groups for cubs, beavers and scouts. The lions also supported local school fairs, the fund-raising Tring Christmas Grotto and the Tring Christmas Festival.

Lions commit every penny that they raise to support others. Funds go to individuals and organisations locally and to international causes. The focus recently has been on supporting young people locally as families and schools find it increasingly hard to provide all that is needed and will continue providing grants to primary schools for activities that extend children’s communication, social and emotional skills which often take place beyond the classrooms and the school day. This year grants included attendance at a forest school, an out-of-school time art club, the development of a garden, and the creation of a flexible role play area in a reception class. Tring Lions also supported a local solution to air conditioning in a school for young children in a township in South Africa.

Lions will continue to support school’s visits and residential activities; they recently enjoyed a presentation from Tring High School students about their visit to Nepal in which they both tested their physical resolve and helped in local schools. Such experiences are often life-changing.

Tring Lions would welcome interest from potential new members as they look forward to developing further their support for local young people in 2024.
