Nadine Brower, a model and mum of two from Tring, will be taking part in this year’s London Marathon on Sunday 2 October to raise funds for Barnados.

Nadine was inspired by her father Eddie Brower who is trying to walk again after Covid. She also wanted to pay tribute to Mark Foley, a close friend of her partner Daryl’s, who was from Barnados and who sadly passed away recently.

Nadine first became interested in the charity as a child when her father Eddie used to take her with her sisters and brother to Barnados in Barkingside, where they lived, to donate to the kids in need.

She’s not a newcomer to the marathon, having run for the first time last year to raise money for the charity hospital her dad was in at the time, but as he is now home, she chose Barnados as her cause this year.

She told us: ‘I thought that raising money for Barnardos for all the great work they do with children would be the perfect way to remind us all of the strength my dad has and his kindness through the years growing up as kids.

‘Dad was in a coma for 3 months and a year in hospital. It’s been two years since he fell ill and he is just nearly able to walk again after intense physio every day. Running the marathon is nothing compared to what my dad has been through.’

Nadine trains locally at Champneys and you may also see her running on the country roads around the area.
