Following the huge success of last September’s first virtual Open Day, the Hertfordshire-based Tring Park School for the Performing Arts is holding its first online Open Day of 2021 in January, for entry into the 2021/22 academic year.

The school for stars, which accepts both day and boarding pupils, and is proud of its excellent academic record, as well as its performing arts vocational training, is looking forward to giving virtual viewers a tour of the UK’s most prestigious performing arts school on Saturday 30 January.

The virtual Open Day will include a tour of the school that will offer a glimpse into the life of current students, focus on academic and vocational lessons, information about the boarding facilities, classrooms, dining room and common rooms, a selection of course performances, interviews with academic and vocational staff and guidance on the application process.

It will also include a live Q&A session with Stefan Anderson, Emily and Hamish, head girl and head boy. Details of how to submit questions will be included in the video. The event will run from 11am to 12.30pm.

The tour will bring to life the environment at Tring Park School, which has provided a springboard for former students who have achieved worldwide success.

Notable recent alumni include Sabrina Bartlett, currently starring in the huge hit Bridgerton on Netflix as Siena Rosso, and Lily James, who is soon to be seen playing Linda in the Pursuit of Love on BBC, based on the Nancy Mitford novel.

Lily has starred in countless films and stage productions including Mamma Mia Here We Go Again and the current Netflix movie Rebecca.

Daisy Ridley who played the leading character of Rey in the lastest Star Wars trilogy, also attended Tring Park School, as did Jessica Brown-Findlay (Downton Abbey, Brave New World), director and choreographer Drew McOnie, who has enjoyed huge success as a choreographer and director in the West End and on Broadway and Bart Edwards, who is currently starring in the Netflix smash hit series The Witcher. X Factor star Ella Henderson was also a student on the Commercial Music Course at Tring.

Going back a little further, Tring Park was also where a star of the recent series of Strictly Come Dancing, actress Caroline Quentin honed her performing skills. Caroline described Tring as ‘like a fairytale’.

And recently, four Tring alumni were named as leading cast members in the West End premiere of Frozen, set to take the world of musical theatre by storm in the Spring/Summer of 2021 at a refurbished Theatre Royal Drury Lane. These are Joe Griffiths-Brown, Hannah Fairclough, Jake Lawrence Small and Matt Gillett.

Indeed, the West End is filled with ex-Tring students, who have recently starred in musicals such as Jesus Christ Superstar, Hamilton, And Juliet, Motown, Mary Poppins, The Boy Friend, Only Fools and Horses, West Side Story and Curtains.

Tring Park School is both a day and boarding school for students aged eight to 19. The school is proud of its broad academic curriculum, which includes offering students the choice of 15 GCSEs and 22 A levels.

Vocational courses include Performance Foundation Course, which is designed to act as the bedrock of a career in the Performing Arts, before students go on to student either Commercial Music; Acting; Musical Theatre; and Dance in sixth form. Dance covers classical ballet, contemporary, jazz and commercial dance and is a three-year course in sixth form. Antony Dowson, who is one of the directors of dance alongside Lorraine Jones, was a former principal at the Royal Ballet and in his early career danced with Margot Fonteyn, one of the most iconic figures in British ballet in the 20th century, and Rudolf Nureyev.

Students that graduated from Tring Park last year went on to a variety of destinations at prestigious academic and vocational schools throughout the world.
