For the last 15 months, Tring Radio’s volunteer presenters have been presenting from their own homes. They now want to move Tring Radio to the next level with a dedicated studio, which will open up so many more opportunities for them to support, inform and entertain and will give them a base right in the heart of the community. It will be a place where people can come to learn about presenting, editing and radio production as well as a base for local organisations, schools and community projects to come and tell their stories on air.
A local radio station is a brilliant way of bringing the community together. It’s a great outlet for the promotion of local music, large and small independent businesses and material that wouldn’t otherwise get radio airplay. It’s a fabulous resource for the community, exploring issues that affect local people and giving everyone an equal chance to express their views, criticisms and support. Local independent radio is often the only way that ordinary people with little or no experience of the broadcast media can find a way into broadcasting and Tring Radio want to offer people the opportunity to do just that.
They have set up a crowdfunder page with some fantastic rewards on offer that will only be available through the crowdfunder, such as your chance to create your very own live party show on the radio, an opportunity to co-present or produce a show, your name on a chair or a sound-proofing panel and many more. As a non-profit station, any money made goes straight back into the running of Tring Radio, or back into the community.
Their dream is to build Tring Radio into a legacy for the town and the surrounding area and they can only do this with your support.
