Views Sought on Proposal for New Leisure Centre in Berkhamsted
Over the last 12 months, Dacorum Borough Council has been investigating the potential of replacing Berkhamsted Leisure Centre with a new, modern leisure facility within the existing site.
The Council is launching a public consultation to find out residents’ views on the proposals for the new leisure centre, which runs from Wednesday 16 February until Wednesday 30 March.
The proposed new leisure centre could deliver a range of new and improved facilities in comparison to the existing centre including a teaching pool, a larger fitness suite and a spa and treatment zone.
As part of the proposals, a range of options are also being put forward for improving nearby Lagley/East Meadow, to protect and enhance this popular green space.
The decision on whether to proceed with the replacement leisure centre is dependent upon a number of factors, including the consultation findings, final costings and planning consent.
Cllr Andrew Williams, Portfolio Holder for Corporate and Contracted Services said: ‘The proposed new leisure centre could deliver an extensive range of facilities to meet the needs of both current and future users. I hope that residents will take the opportunity to have their say in helping to shape the next stage of this exciting proposal.’
How to take part in the consultation
The consultation will run for six weeks, opening on Wednesday 16 February and closing at midnight on Wednesday 30 March 2022.

The Council is running three drop-in sessions for residents wishing to find out more about the proposals for the new leisure centre:

- Tuesday 22 February from 9am to 7pm
- Saturday 5 March from 9am to 2pm
Berkhamsted Civic Centre, 161 High Street, Berkhamsted, HP4 3HB
- Wednesday 23 February from 9am to 7pm
