Walk this Way

The Berkhamsted Walk started in 1968, and since then has raised in excess of £300,000 for The Children’s Society – a charity dedicated to supporting children in need throughout the UK. It’s always been a community affair – set up and run by members of the Berkhamsted Committee with help from friendly volunteers. The start and finish point are on a site owned by Berkhamsted School and is well supported with finish-line cakes by Gail’s Bakery on the High Street!
With more than 300 participants in the past couple of years, the Walk has become a firm fixture on the local calendar. A cornerstone of the Walk is supporting other local causes – most recently, it welcomed the mobile coffee shop, The Blue Tangerine Café. Run by young people with special educational needs, the Café was set up by local schools where young people requiring additional support can thrive.
With three routes to choose from – six, 12 and 18 miles – and all welcome (including dogs on leads), this wonderful day out on 11 May in the beautiful local countryside raises money for a fantastic cause.
