Walking in a wildlife wonderland
It’s the season to be wild as Christmas comes to Whipsnade Zoo, offering a festive day out for the whole family surrounded by more than 10,000 animals.
On select weekends from Saturday 21 November and every day from 12 until 24 December, visitors can celebrate Christmas at Whipsnade Zoo with a packed programme of winter fun at the UK’s largest zoo.
Included with Zoo entry, Christmas at Whipsnade Zoo is packed with merry events – including the Great Train Advent Calendar, where every door reveals an animal to meet and learn about during daily wildlife talks, as well as the chance to win an early Christmas present.
Putting Whipsnade’s animal expertise in the spotlight, little ones can discover how Santa’s elves prepare the reindeer for the biggest flight of the year in ‘How to Train Your Reindeer’ immersive story sessions.
No visit to Whipsnade is complete without a stop at the visitor centre to write and post a letter to Santa. Families can also book their tickets to Meet Santa in his cosy cabin or make a special gift for under the tree with Christmas ceramic painting.
Between the festive fun, visitors can take a winter walk like no other surrounded by 600 acres of beautiful Bedfordshire countryside, spotting some of the zoo’s newest arrivals enjoying their first Christmas – including baby Asian elephant Anu, African lion cubs Mufasa, Pumbaa, Rafiki, Sarabi and Shenzi and red panda cubs Alex and Priya.
