Latest on Luton Airport Expansion

London Luton Airport Ltd (LLAL), the Luton Council company that owns London Luton Airport (LTN), has announced its preferred option for the long-term sustainable growth of the airport.

The proposal is aimed at moving towards making best use of the existing single runway, in line with government policy and contributing to the projected shortfall in national aviation capacity. They’ll be targeting expansion to a capacity of 32 million passengers a year (mppa) from the current cap of 18 mppa.

The announcement follows last year’s consultation and the proposals will now require an application to the government for a Development Consent Order to authorise the expansion.

LLAL says it will seek to deliver maximum benefit to the local, regional and national economy and actively manage environmental impacts.
